Don Cheadle was born on November 29, 1964, in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. His father, Donald Frank Cheadle Sr., was a clinical psychologist, and his mother, Betty Cheadle, was a psychology teacher and later a bank manager. Don has a sister named Cindy and a brother named Colin. Growing up, Cheadle's family moved frequently. From 1970 to 1974, he attended Hartley Elementary School in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1982, he graduated from East High School in Denver, Colorado. It was during his time at East High School that Cheadle first began exploring his passion for the arts, participating in theater musicals and plays, pantomime shows, singing in the choir, and playing the saxophone in a jazz band. After high school graduation, Don enrolled in the California Institute of the Arts, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in acting.
